好杯咖啡 represents a pleasant juxtaposition of modern and quaint charm, and is one of my favorites for its kind staff and low-key atmosphere.
When I went looking for this cafe, I must say that I wasn’t expecting to find it where I did–on the first floor of a newish-looking apartment complex. But the inside was designed to feel welcoming and cozy, with a mosaic of colorful wooden planks overlaid on top of the ceiling and an entire wall that was taken up by a shelf whose cubbies showcased various art pieces and handicrafts for sale by independent artists, something which I greatly appreciated.
I also made special note of the spatial arrangement of the cafe, which was sectioned off into different zones–a counter that ran the length of the window, a low leather couch and green chair, and more stand-alone counters towards the back–that made possible a sense of privacy within the open, shared space. That, plus the easy access to outlets and internet, made it a great place to linger, and sure enough, I observed several people sitting by themselves, working away quietly at their laptops at various corners of the cafe.
The other thing I liked about the cafe was how the owners’ consideration and thoughtfulness were evident in how they decorated and furnished it. In addition to the endless hidden treasure trove of small adornments stashed here and there and numerous magazines provided, I was surprised to find a makeshift baby changing bed in the bathroom. That, plus the friendliness of the staff, who greeted me immediately when I came in and explained the menu to me, definitely boosted my positive feelings about the place.
